Concertino (1946)
for oboe and piano
by Albert Tepper (1921-2010) – American composer
This is Tepper’s own piano reduction of his Concertino for Oboe and Strings. The string parts are available on hire from Southern Music Co.
Composed in the summer 1046, this work is in three short movements, played without pause. It combines contemporary extended tonality, especially in the Lento, with classical concerto form in the outer movements. Additionally, the B section of the first movement’s A-B-A is transformed, with a change of meter from duple to triple, to the second episode of the rondo finale, thus making for a one-in-three cyclical structure.
